Why can't you have your database hosted on the server, and if you need a local copy, also have on one the laptop and use some import/export /update scripts to synchronise records?
( you could also run VNC on your server and then log onto your Mac remotely and run FM Pro on your Mac ( remotely) if you sust want access to the information on it ) It is not generally not recommended for FM Pro to run on the same (windows ) machine as FM Server because it causes problems, but you could run a virtual windows machine ( with FM PRo in it )if your server is powerful enough. If you want your FM Pro to host the database, you need a client - another FM Pro installation It has no ability to open and interact with files on its own.įM Pro can be a client or a host ( although only for 10 users) You cannot do that - the software is not designed to be used this way.įM Server has no front end - it can only be a host of files, not a client.
